I Love Lucy Chocolate Factory Themed Birthday Party

It had to be an I Love Lucy Chocolate Factory Themed Birthday Party. You see, the church ladies I grew up with knew how to party. Every shindig had a fun theme to go with it. As a result, I too became a themed party thrower. The theme never has to be fancy or difficult, just lots of fun, smatchy smatchy, and something special for the recipient.

When Dotter was about 11 years old, I decided that since we lived close to Boehm’s Chocolate Factory we would go with an “I Love Lucy” theme – chocolate factory tour and all.

We had a great time touring not only the chocolate factory but the home where the founder lived when he was alive as well. Geniuses always seem to live eccentrically, and Julius Boehm was no exception.

The chocolaty perfection was nothing short of glorious.

And delicious.

Afterward, we (of course) watched Lucy and the Chocolate Factory episode of I Love Lucy. I couldn’t help but notice how much times have changed.

Grandma topped off the party with a chocolate box cake. Seeing pictures of my sweet liddles and their friends who are now grown still melts my heart.

Deanna’s love for baking and cooking first began when she sat upon a baker’s stool as a little girl. Her love for people grew in the midst of church potlucks. Today, she expresses these loves creatively through speaking engagements and food writing. Deanna hosted guests, including celebrities, at her award-winning B&B in the Snoqualmie Valley. Deanna has been seen on both local and national television with her Saucy Balsamic Burgers which knocked 'N Sync's Joey Fatone to his knees. Besides her children, Deanna’s mud pie is one of the most beautiful things she has ever created.
