How to Make Teriyaki Sauce

  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Dash of crushed red peppers (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarse ground pepper

Place all ingredients in a saucepan and whisk together.

After everything has been mixed together, place the pan on a burner over medium-high heat. Whisk occasionally. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and let it simmer for a couple of minutes while the sauce thickens. Once the sauce has thickened, serve with chicken and rice for yummy take-out at home.
