5 Tips for Buying the Best Measuring Spoons & Cups
- Don’t buy cheap because you want accurate measurements. Don’t buy cute because they’re often not easy to use. Don’t buy plastic because they can melt. And, don’t buy ceramic because they can easily break. Stainless steel is best.
- Make sure you find a complete set. Many sets are missing the 3/4 measuring cup, for example. No, you don’t need these missing pieces, but they are very handy and I don’t care to live without them.
- Make sure your measuring tools have rounded edges so you don’t cut yourself. The only things that should be sharp in your kitchen are knives & blades.
- Make sure the handles are the length you like. Handles come in many different lengths. Short handles, especially, are inconvenient.
- Don’t buy measuring spoons for girth. Buy for length. (That’s what she said). The big, round spoons won’t fit inside of a typical spice jar. Go with narrow.
