I’m not completely sure what I expected from the Dole Plantation; but, I knew I had to go.
And I’m so glad we did.
Dole Plantation Dole Whips
I was hesitant to get a Dole Whip because the last time I had one at Disneyland, it was somewhat tasteless and loaded with frothy air. But at the Dole Plantation? Mind blown. I got the pineapple float version and it was perfectly perfect in every way.
Update: These can be found at Disneyland and on Maui and they’re way better than just a bowl of Dole Whip in my humble opinion.
We grabbed lunch and met some local peeps.
It’s fun for the whole family. Behold, the Pineapple Express!
Even though we were told we were out of season for the best stuff in the fields, it was very interesting and a pleasant ride. I found the banana trees especially appealing.
The field workers looked a little board, though.
Chocolate? Well, let me enlighten you. The very best chocolate I have ever had is grown here. Don’t miss the cacao bean to Waialua Estate chocolate bar transition lesson and little free sample in the gift shop. It only takes a few minutes and, well, chocolate.
Bar none. Thankfully, while it’s not in every store, we can find it close to home without having to fly back to Hawaii… not that flying back would be a terrible idea.
And a pineapple-y maze. Or, as I like to refer to it, a very stressful walk through a very peaceful garden.
But, no worries. For those of us who feel panicky in mazes, there is a lovely flower garden full of exotic plants and lovely ponds. One might say it is ponderous.
Dole Plantation Gift Shop
Before you leave, you can find loads of treats, t-shirts, and other Hawaiian souvenirs in the huge gift shop. I don’t dole this advice out lightly. This is a must go no matter how you slice it.
