Apple Filling

This Apple Filling is great for using in cakes, over pancakes, and in pastries.

If you’d like it more syrupy for pancakes, you can use the smaller amount of cornstarch and if you’d like it thicker for cake filling, just use the higher amount of cornstarch. Easy peezy.

Apple Filling

  • 4 honeycrisp apples, peeled and diced
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • Dash freshly-ground nutmeg
  • 4-6 tablespoons cornstarch

Place diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a medium-large bowl.

Stir the ingredients together and let sit for 15-20 minutes so the sugar has time to pull the juices out of the apples.

Stir in the cornstarch. Add 4 tablespoons for a thinner filling and 6 tablespoons if you’d like it thicker.

Pour the filling into a saucepan and heat over medium – medium-high heat. Gently stir as it cooks. When it comes to a boil, cook & stir for a couple of minutes until it has thickened.
