How to Make Emoji Cake Pops

Emoji Cake Pops haz all da feelz for Valentine’s Day. Cake pops + emojis = Valentine’s treats. Nothin’ could be sweeter.

You will want a sturdy styrofoam block or a Wilton Cake Pops Stand before entering to world of cake pops because you will need to prop them up after dipping. Either of these can be purchased online or at a craft store.

Cake Pop Recipe

First, bake a 18.25 oz. cake mix. Allow to cool.

Then grab one 16 oz. container of store bought frosting. It’s important to note that you can only use 3/4ths of the container though or, consequently, your cake pops will crack after coated.

Place 3/4 of the container (or 12 ounces or 1 1/2 cups) of frosting into all of the cooled, baked cake. Did I mention using only 3/4ths of the container of frosting? I recommend placing cake & frosting in mixing bowl and mixing until well-combined.

Form into about 1-inch balls and place on baking sheet. Form the same amount of cake into a poop emoji by pressing it into a flat but thick triangle then forming some curves with your fingers and a little curved tip at the top. Freeze on tray for 15 minutes to set.

During the wait time seems like a great time to melt chocolate and yellow candies.

Remove cake balls from freezer once they’re chilled. Poke top of lollipop stick into melted candy just about 1/8 inch, then insert a lollipop stick into cake ball. Finally, reform the top a little bit again as it might get a little bit flat from sitting on the pan.

Royal Icing Recipe

Place all ingredients into mixer. Turn on low speed until powdered sugar is incorporated into a frosting. This prevents powdered sugar snow in the kitchen. Continue to mix until the frosting is stiff – like whipped cream.  If you remove the whisk attachment, the frosting should stand up pretty much straight. Use decorating bag and a simple round tip to decorate.

Emoji Cake Pops

For Silly Face Emoji Cake Pops Dip in yellow candy, place one eye candy (yes, I know) on the right side of where you’d like the face to be. Allow to dry. Finish off face using black royal icing and just carefully break a thin pink heart to make the tongues. After drawing the mouth, the tongue can be glued onto black frosting before it dries to complete the look.

Emoji Cake Pops

For Poop Emoji Cake pops Dip in dark chocolate candy, place eye candies in place. Allow to dry (they can be carefully laid upon parchment paper on baking sheet to dry since they’re kinda flat anyhow). Finish off face using white royal icing to draw his stinky little smile.

Emoji Cake Pops

For Love Emoji Cake Pops Dip in yellow candy, place two red hearts for eyes. Allow to dry and then finish off face using black royal icing for the smile.

If you like, you can let frosting on emoji cake pops dry overnight and then place a clear bag over the top and wrap a bow around the bottom of the cake pop. You can also carefully place the cake pop stick into a matching, striped paper straws making for an extra cute delivery.

Emergency Chocolate Cupcake Recipe With Cream Cheese Frosting

I am so proud of my kids. I’m proud of them because of who they have worked to become. While I’m also proud of their accomplishments, there are too many to list. Last night I received a typical call from Dotter getting ready to accomplish something again. It went something like this…

5:38pm call: “Hi, Mom. I’m at the grocery store…”

And, that’s when I know I need to put my chef hat on to answer cooking or baking questions. Dotter uses this same website like you do except, you know, she has the hotline number. This week she was making cupcakes for nurses. We got her all set and then the updates came…

8:53pm message: “Really cute!”

10:03pm message: #winning

nurse gift ideas

Most noteworthy little boxes all dolled up. As a result, I’m beaming with pride.

10:13pm message: “I’m so proud of myself! I’m giddy!”

If she’s anything like her momma, I’m guessing there was dancing and bouncing and clapping involved. We’re a little Tiggerish that way. As a result, perhaps one day she, too, will break her dotter’s bed while sharing good news. I love her.

Chocolate Cupcake Recipe Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup dark cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup very hot water

first of all, cream sugar & butter together. Mix in dry ingredients. Place eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, butter, & vanilla in a medium bowl and mix together well. Pour wet ingredients into the mixture while continuing to mix. Add hot water. Turn mixer off; and, in addition, use a rubber spatula to scrape ingredients from sides of bowl down into the batter. Mix some more until well combined. Set aside.

Scoop batter using an ice cream scoop or 1/3 measuring cup into cupcake liners placed in a muffin baking pan. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until a fork poked in, consequently,  comes out clean. Finally, allow cupcakes to cool completely.

Cream Cheese Frosting Ingredients

  • 1 – 4 oz pkg cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 lb powdered sugar
  • Sea salt to taste – this make a huge difference in the flavor
  • Small amount of water, as much as needed

First of all, start mixer on low until ingredients are combined then whip ingredients together. In addition, add a wee bit of water if needed.

You can use 1/2 batch or less of this fondant for decorations.

11:33am message: “They loved them! They couldn’t believe that I made them… One nurse said, “Get out of town!”

My kids… they make my heart so very happy. And their talents? Well, maybe that’s just the frosting on top.

Chocolate Covered Cordial Cherries Candy Recipe

Day 6

cor-dial: warm and sincere; friendly: a cordial greeting; cordial relations.

This recipe couldn’t be more cordial.

  • 45 maraschino cherries (with or without stems)
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 6 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/8 cup cherry juice from maraschino cherry jar
  • 1/8 cup bourbon whiskey (or water if you prefer no alcohol)
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 pound Wilton Chocolate Pro Fountain & Fondue Chocolate Wafers

NOTE Regarding bourbon, you can replace cherry juice with another 1/8 cup of bourbon is you especially like the boozy flavor. You’re welcome.

Drain but keep & refrigerate the juice as it is tasty & can be used in beverages such as pop for a fun twist.

Lay cherries on a few paper towels to allow excess juice to drain while you make the filling and melt chocolate. Use paper towels to dry tops of cherries also.

If you have ever been sad to see the boxes of cordial cherries disappear from the store shelves, you will be ever so happy to see this recipe coming. Just place butter, powdered sugar, cherry juice, bourbon, & salt into mixer. Turn on to a low speed until some of the powdered sugar is mixed in with the other ingredients & then turn to higher speed to prevent powdered sugar flying everywhere. Dough will be very firm but pliable like playdough.

Wrap cherries in pretty pink filling, then roll between hands to form a ball. Place them onto a flat tray that will fit in your fridge.

Pretty in pink. Place in fridge for about 15-20 minutes to chill. This makes them easier to dip.

Melt chocolate over double boiler. Or, you can use the microwave and melt 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between the 30 second intervals until nearly melted. Stir until fully melted.

I set my cherries on a fork and then gently tap over edge of the bowl to remove excess chocolate. I then use a knife to carefully slide the cordial onto parchment to allow the chocolate time to set on parchment paper.

Cordial cherries may be placed in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes to firm up if desired.

Glory be.

cor-dial: chocolaty and cherry; sweet: a cordial tasting; cordial perfection.
