Layered Blueberry and Mango Smoothies

When it’s not enough to braise the roast, simply splatter some hot oil. And when polka dot burns on your face aren’t enough, grab the hot part of the pan for the win.

Short story: I burned my hand today.

So I decided to blog something cold. It just felt right.

You could make a blueberry smoothie and you could make a mango smoothie but why not make a layered blueberry and mango smoothie?

Mise en Place (MEEZ-ahn-plahs).

For the mango smoothie:

  • 1 sixteen ounce bag of frozen mangos
  • 1 small frozen banana
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 1/2 cups orange juice (don’t pour into blender until ready to blend)

Blend all ingredients together very well. Only turn blender up to the lowest speed you need to make this happen. Pour into bottom half of glasses.

For the blueberry smoothie:

  • 1 sixteen ounce bag of frozen blueberries
  • 1 small frozen banana
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1-2 tablespoons barleygreen powder (optional but very healthy & you can’t taste it!)
  • 1 1/2 cups blueberry (or another sweet juice, like apple) juice (don’t pour into blender until ready to blend)

Blend all ingredients together very well. Only turn blender up to the lowest speed you need to make this happen. Gently pour into top half of glasses over mango goodness.

Garnish with blueberries and a sprig of mint. Layered, slushy, cold and gorgeous. They make everything feel better.

Craigdarroch Castle in Victoria BC

If you like to see old, you will like Victoria BC. So many gorgeous buildings, including the Craigdarroch Castle. Here’s the Cliffsnote’s version of the castle history.

Once upon a time there was a rich guy. He decided to build a castle.

Once upon a time there was a architect. He decided to say yes to building a castle.

The rich guy and the architect started the project.

The rich guy and the architect died.

The rich guy’s wife found a new architect.

The castle was finished.

The rich guy’s wife lived in the castle for 18 years.

The rich guy’s wife died.

The rich guy’s 10 children didn’t want the castle.

The castle became a military hospital.

The castle became a college.

The castle was restored to it’s original floor plan.

Except for the bathrooms. And the kitchen.

The castle keepers got a cool shoe cleaner to put at the castle entrance.

Tourists came from all over the world to see the castle. Even Seattle. The tourists may have danced in the castle.

The end.
